Neocaridina Shrimp
Neocaradina davidi
Native to Taiwan, not only are “Cherry” shrimp a great clean up crew for your aquarium, but a gorgeous tank inhabitant on their own.
Tank size 2g, 10g ideal for large colony, well planted
Peaceful but may be preyed upon, especially babies, Be very careful with bettas, guppies, chicilid species.
64 - 78F 18 - 26C, very temperature resilient if acclimated slowly.
Shrimps have survived swings below 60 and above 85F, but it is not recommended, just to demonstrate the hardiness of the species. In my experience, higher temps seem to increase breeding behavior.
pH 6.8 - 7.5, I supplement often with catappa leaves, bare in mind tannins can affect your pH so monitor and adjust accordingly.
gH 6-15,
kH 0-10
Tds 180-400
Much like with paying attention to pH with tannin additions, pay attention to hardness swings when doing water changes or adding supplemental calcium to tank.
